Work Party: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Restoration Site Tour: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association and the Chums of Terrell Creek by helping restore streamside habitat for salmon along the banks of Terrell Creek! This long-term community restoration project will continue this year with the planting of native trees and shrubs on a scenic restoration site. After a few hours of getting dirty and creating habitat, join the Chums of Terrell Creek on a self-guided tour of local farm and habitat improvement projects and learn about how local watershed residents are protecting water quality in Terrell Creek and Birch Bay.

Work Party:

All ages are welcome. Bring your friends, your family, and your enthusiasm to restore streamside habitat for salmon.

We’ll bring snacks, tools, materials, and gloves, but for your safety and comfort please wear:

  • sturdy shoes to protect your toes
  • long pants that you don't mind getting dirty
  • weather appropriate clothing to stay warm and dry

Enjoy a FREE Earth Day T-shirt for helping salmon (limited supply)!

Restoration Site Tour:

Each of us can make a difference for salmon and water quality in our own lives. Come and see what others are doing in their own backyard for the benefit of all. Meet with three Terrell Creek Watershed Stewards that have made property improvements including: livestock exclusion fencing, pasture management improvements, stream side vegetation planting, fish barrier removal, and more. A tour map and guide will be provided for you to take the tour at your own pace.

Directions: From Birch Bay, drive south on Jackson Road toward Grandview and park at the former Birch Bay Bible Community Church. From Bellingham, head north on I-5 and take exit #266/Grandview. Go west for about 7 miles. Turn right on Jackson Road. Parking and shuttles are available at the former Birch Bay Bible Community Church. Look for signs.

Event coordinated provided by the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, Whatcom Conservation District, and BBWARM. The event is free and open to the public. Special thanks to BP for providing the restoration site and continued support of salmon habitat restoration and water quality improvements.
