Post date: Oct 3, 2014 10:15:00 PM

  • Whatcom County Public Works is hosting a free technical workshop on maintaining stormwater ponds, catch basins, swales and more on Saturday, October 18, from 9:45 AM to 1:00 PM at the Birch Bay Bible Community Church, 4460 Bay Road. This workshop is for homeowner associations and businesses responsible for maintaining stormwater ponds and other stormwater facilities. A properly maintained private stormwater system will function as designed to protect properties from drainage problems and leads to improved water quality of our waterways. The workshop will include demonstrations of simple techniques to assess the condition of detention ponds, catch basins, and swales built to manage your development’s stormwater. You will learn: How to prolong the life of your stormwater facilities
  • How to assess future maintenance needs
  • Homeowner responsibilities for maintenance of shared facilities

Bonus! If you participate in the workshop AND your development is within the Birch Bay UGA you are eligible to sign up for a free inspection of your stormwater system.
