The Washington State Department of Health's shellfish website is a great resource to check before your next trip to the beach. You can check for current beach closures and learn about biotoxins (red tide), shellfish harvesting, and more.
- For current swimming beach and recreational shellfish harvest closure areas click on beach closures.
- To access recent water quality data for Birch Bay and other popular marine beaches around Puget Sound click on beach closure then follow the links to the BEACH program.
More information on recreational shellfish harvesting at Birch Bay State Park is available on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website.
