BBWARM is partnering with the Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee and Whatcom County Public Works and Parks Departments to host a special, family-friendly event at Cottonwood Beach on Saturday, June 22 from 10 am to 1 pm. Look for the tent at the Cottonwood Beach North public parking area. This event is free, and everyone is invited to come learn more about what is happening with water in the Birch Bay watershed with a focus on the Cottonwood Neighborhood. From the stormwater running down our roads to the creatures living in the tide flats, there is a lot going on with our water. The Drayton Harbor Community Oyster Farm and Garden of the Salish Sea Curriculum will be joining us. There will be hands-on kids activities, beach naturalists walks, and more. Come learn more about: high levels of bacteria in the creek and stormwater system, stormwater capital project construction starting in late July, noxious weeds living in Halverson Park, and eelgrass food factories in Birch Bay. Help keep the water clean by participating in a litter clean-up. For more information please contact Ingrid Enschede with Whatcom County Public Works Stormwater at (360) 715-7450 x50787.
